Personal Verdict: I prefer DMC3. While DMC4's combat was arguably more in-depth, it lacked the overall "oomph" of DMC3.

Gameplay differences between DMC4 and DMC4SE? I have DMC4 on PC and DMC4SE on PS4. I've been playing a lot of SE on PS4, I'm able to get to floor 50 of bloody palace consistently and yesterday I got to 85. I haven't had any trouble with the early floors in a long time.

I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe it's just nostalgia talking but in my opinion DMC4 gameplay feels more brutal and fun compare to DMC5. Both are great game, but 4 is slightly better imo. There is a reason the Pro community prefers DMC4. DMC4 is the pinnacle of the franchise when it comes to gameplay, and this is thanks to the cheer.

IMO Nero's DMC5 visual design is an improvement over his DMC4 one -his outfit is better stylistically and in terms of color balance, his hairstyle also helps him stand out more on his own and suits him well. BUT I have issues with the changes they made to him in terms of gameplay:

SquatsForMary âą 2 yr. ago Gameplay wise, DMC4 is easily the more nuanced and polished experience. DMC: Devil May Cry's combat could never stack up to it. That being said, DMC still has fun combat that's a lot more beginner friendly. Not bad, just not as much depth. If you liked DMC3's combat you'll definitely like 4's.

bartulata âą 3 yr. ago Everyone values games differently. For a vast majority of players, DMC5 is the superior game. Some people still prefer 3 or 4 over 5, which is understandable. The skill ceiling in those two games is arguably higher than 5, and that is what some of those players value the most.

But it makes full advantage of the RE roots in a way that has been ignored since. Dmc4 for me. 2 playable characters (extremely fun to play), Bloody palace, Replayability. For me, I'd say DMC1 is better, especially compared to vanilla DMC4. The only thing that keeps me from replaying DMC1 is the fixed cameras.
